4 Ways to Explore Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is a short drive from Bozeman, MT, and well worth the trip. With amazing scenery, outdoor adventures, and wildlife sightings, there is something for everyone to enjoy. On top of that, there are many ways to explore the park no matter how you like to get outside and take it all in. Here are four ways to explore Yellowstone National Park from the team at Journey Rent-A-Car.

Rent a Car and Explore Yellowstone National Park

On Foot

Kicking things off, pun intended, is the classic mode of travel: walking. There are more than 900 miles of hiking trails in Yellowstone with varying distances and difficulty. Some are only five miles long while others are up to nearly 40 miles long. It’s safe to say that you’ll definitely get all of your steps in for the day.

Biking

With paved paths and gravel roads, Yellowstone is a wonderful place to take a bike ride. You can rent a bike from Old Faithful Snow Lodge and head out on the various paths. Again, there are shorter trips to take or a nine-mile round trip ride to Lone Star Geyser if you’re feeling wild.

Boating

Yellowstone Lake is the largest high-altitude lake in the country at around 20 miles long and 14 miles wide. There are several types of boat rentals available to you. You can rent a boat for yourself and head out on the water, or opt to have a guided boat tour complete with a captain. There is also fishing available if that’s up your alley.

On Horseback

Last, but certainly not least, is the option of exploring Yellowstone on horseback. In this case, you’ll have to consider the age and size of any children you may be bringing. Anyone under eight years of age or under 48 inches tall won’t be able to ride. Other than that, prepare for an amazing guided tour of the park.
