Road Closures and Openings
Park staff determines when to open the roads inside Yellowstone Park. However, it’s not uncommon for them to at least open for bicycling, walking, jogging, and other non-motorized travel beginning in late March or early April. The road running from the North Entrance to the Northeast Entrance is open year-round. Therefore, you can expect to travel in your rental car, rental SUV, or another vehicle.
Animal Activity
Just like flowers and plants, animals also burst forth during the spring. However, the timing varies. Spring Break in Yellowstone falls in early spring. Some mammals emerge during this time. Most of the campgrounds and lodging options open in April, May, and June. Your best bet is to stay in Bozeman, Big Sky, or somewhere nearby and explore the park as part of your daytime activities.
