Family Fun at Yellowstone National Park

Each year, families eagerly bring their kids to Yellowstone, hoping to catch that first glimpse of Old Faithful or to tackle a trail together. If you’re considering a vacation at Yellowstone National Park, we at Journey Rent-A-Car in nearby Bozeman, MT, want to pass along a few tips for maximizing your family time at the park.

1. Join the Yellowstone Junior Ranger Program.

Did you know your kids (ages 4 and older) can become Junior Rangers? All you have to do is go to one of the park’s visitor centers and purchase a Junior Ranger activity booklet (cost: $3). The booklet will lead you through a series of activities to complete during your time at Yellowstone, and by completing the activities, your child can earn a verified Junior Ranger patch.

2. Let your kids stay up late and star gaze.

Vacations—if any time—are a great time to let your kids stay up past their regular bedtimes, especially if it means seeing the stars like they’ve never seen them before. The Yellowstone sky on a clear night is majestic and inspiring, a sight both you and your kids won’t want to miss.

3. Visit Artist’s Point.

Take a short walk to Artist’s Point near the Canyon Visitor Education Center to see the Yellowstone River pouring over into Lower Falls through the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. The beauty of this view certainly inspired its name and is worth the drive in your car rental.

For comfortable and convenient travel throughout Yellowstone National Park and Montana, consider a minivan rental from Journey Rent-A-Car. Your family can travel comfortably throughout the park, enjoying the sites and activities.
